Note; due to translation issues related to the fickleness of pinyin, this character's name is also written as "Fan Li Lao" or "Fan Lou Jia" in some translations. At a certain point of the English translation his name was "anglicized" and changed to "Falcon", but it was done on the whims of the translator - in the original text, he uses his original name.
Fan Le Lao (梵洛伽, Fàn luò jiā) is the leader of the Lasombra Clan and the supreme leader of the Sabbat. He acts as the main antagonist through a large part of the story line.
Appearance
He appears to be an attractive young man. His eyes are red, he has dark bluish-black hair with one strand left long on the right. He wears 3 petal-like decorations behind his left ear that make him stand out among his own clan and the Sabbat vampires. His distinctive trait is a mysterious red tattoo on the back of his right hand. The mark of his hand disappeared, when he started to attend Saint Ferrell's Highschool[1].
He is tall with broad shoulders and appears to be muscular. He was seen wearing earrings, earpierces (even three at once) and rings. He always dresses attractively.
Thanks to a spell at one point his female version is seen. In this form he was a big-breasted female with very feminine looks and really long hair.
Fan Le Lao full apperance
Personality
A sadistic vampire and a very capable leader, appearing as a calm and gentle Vampire on the outside. He has a hidden ferocious personality which was more apparent during his childhood life as a beggar as seen when he brutally retaliated to those who bullied him. He still likes to dress up as a beggar before an attack and take out the location of attacks.
He is fond of playing games with peoples' lives and in particularly enjoys seeing the conflicts between the rich and the poor. He can easily measure other people's personality and finds flaws and weak points effortlessly. He was also noted by the Giovanni Clan's fortune teller to have two sides to his personality, a note previously that had been mentioned by Zhao Yan. Between his seriousness is a childish side that likes to toy with people. He loves forcing people to depend on him, thus snaring them in a trap they cannot escape from him, making them trapped and securing their cooperation and takes what he wants from them.
He can be patient, but his patience has a limit and when it runs out he gets bored. This makes him more dangerous as he can resort to extreme measures to win a game once it has run its course.
He is shown to be wise and far-sighted with his moves and has a knack for creating enemies as a result of his actions. As he is ruthless and through at times, he is not above the idea of wiping out factions and other clans. He is arrogant towards authority figures such as Osiris, and doesn't tend to see weaker threats as the Demon Hunter's Organisation or Ge Chen much more then an annoyance or set back in his plans. He eventually gives upon revenge against the human Hunters and sees the seeking of vengeance as a weakness as it will only create more hatred and more death in a never ending loop. Despite his constant seeking of power, his ambitions have a limit and is hinted that he wishes to find a place for his existence in the world after he is done with his current plans.
Relationships
Zhao Yan
After he captured Zhao Yan out of interest, he constantly toyed with her emotions just for fun. This included allowing her to escape his castle only to be brought back again, making her fall in love with him by erasing her memories and many more. Over time he realizes he has an attraction for her and cannot explain why he cannot resist her charms.
He is able to act very different when he wants to towards her, from acting creepy, threatening and suspicious to acting child-like to gain empathy, all while attempting to play with her heart. Though eventually he wins her cooperation, even her love by taking her memories away, but later she refuses to accept any feelings towards him and wishes him dead by her own hands.
After his new found power after the Forbidden Sphere battle, she ends up allying with him for his power by offering him her blood and help, so she can save her Yue Jian and get a stay of execution for Xi Yan. He gives her quite much latitude - compared to the past when he kept her chained - but warns her when she crosses lines she shouldn't as she is still her prisoner.
He seems to be annoyed by her obsession to protect her sisters and her unwillingness to have feelings for anyone else. He points out many times directly and indirectly that having no goals for herself and only living for others will cause her problems.
Yi Sai
With the crown prince of the Tzimisce Clan they are the leaders of the Sabbat, with Fan Le Lao being the main decision maker. Yi Sai acts as his subordinate, and supports him. He relies on Yi Sai and his spies as his information source and trusts what he learns from him, and pays attention to his suggestions, while Yi Sai bends before his decisions. The normally don't say anything regarding matters that affect only the other's Clan. They seem to know each other fighting style and can cooperate highly effectively.
Xi Yan
Despite being cruel and ,sadistic he does stop Xi Yan's suffering; but only because he grew tired of hearing her screams. In reality he couldn't care less for her as she is Yi Sai's subordinate. He only uses her as a leash on Zhao Yan.
The Sabbat
Fan Le Lao leads the Sabbat with his charisma and strength, through this the two Sabbat clans work together towards common goals. He has a cordial relationship with the prince of the Tzimisce clan, that serves as the foundation of the Sabbat beside the Lasombra. They are hostile against the Hunters and when they want something they go for it, no matter how high will be the colleteral damage in the human side. He leads them in a lifestyle that refuses the hide in front of the humans like they were rats - like the Camarilla does - when actually they are far stronger than the mortals. They are bound by far less law, too.
The Camarilla
He also sees Ge Chen and the Camarilla as nothing more then an annoyance, though as manipulated them according to get his own means. Ge Chen himself is nothing more then a brat to him, lacking experience but surprises him on the several meetings the pair have made with each other. He was able to form a truce with him; but it lasted only until they stepped into the Forbidden Sphere and Set's power was presented as a prize.
Other
He made the Demon Hunter's Organisation pay for killing his father and was eventually both directly and indirectly responsible for the groups downfall. The group felt his rage against them; after they were wiped out their scattered remaining members were barely a threat at all to him.
Abilities

He is patient, cunning and intelligent, assets both gained form experience and his longevity as a Vampire. He loves deceiving others and is calculated and patient as he schemes. He is a competent leader, and a skilled fighter. Great strategist and has keen judgement basically about everything.
It was also revealed that he was a second choice for Osiris as a "puppet" and that the Grand Uncle of Lucius Brad, Ino Brad's brother, had been his first pick until the Giovanni Clan got to him first. Fan Le Lao's biggest weakness is his desire for power and it comes at price. Just about every gain he makes to acquire it has consequences, be it making enemies of great power or suffering pain caused by gaining that power.
Vampirism
As the Clan Leader he commands authority over others in his bloodline; as the Sabbat Leader he commands authority over the other Demon Bloodlines. He knows when to attack; but also knows when to retreat. It is implied that he is above normal Vampire skills when he senses Xi Yan when she uses an invisibility pill, yet all other Vampires, including Yi Sai, could not detect her. During his first fight with Zhao Yan, he stopped her sword in the middle of a strike, cutting himself on her blade.
He was seen healing Zhao Yan's scratches she gave herself to protect her from him. Anyone he bites becomes a Vampire of his clan bloodline. Like his fellow Sabbat member Yi Sai, he knew of the Mei Yue Yin blood but not of its powers to prevent the bearer from becoming a Vampire.
Supernatural Powers
As a Lasombra Vampire, he has the power of erasing memories, manipulate or take control over individuals. He also knows a spell called "the Seven Moons Dew", which controls Zhao Yan. So far he used this four times.
He demonstrates the ability also to transform into animal form. At one point after seeing Zhao Yan in the garden during the day, he transforms into a butterfly to fly around her. Then he changes into a teacup to steal a kiss from her, reforming even when she smashes it.
As a Lasombra Vampire, by sacrificing some of his blood he is able to manifest darkness that has a physical form. He prefers thorn-like and chain-like manifestations, which fits his style: they can be used for control, and he can use that to control the movements of his opponent. Another spell sends fragments of the chains flying at a foe and another forms a barrier to protect him.
He later learns the power of Nie Yue Lian Xue Zhen, the power of destruction and the curse placed on him by his father was lifted. This power was enough to harm Set without his power, something Ge Chen struggled to do.
After biting Zhao Yan his powers were temporarily increased. Fan Le Lao, more so then Ge Chen seems to be more susceptible to the long-term side effects of the blood and seems to have far less control over himself around Zhao Yan.
Divine Essence
During the events of the Forbidden Sphere, he manages to steal 2/5 of Set's power. This makes him one of the most powerful Vampires at that time, with only Set himself being more powerful. When he uses that power vampire familiars surround him. However, as he gathers the powers of the Shards of Osiris, he begins to suffer as the two Gods' powers contradict each other causing him to physically suffer pain while he endures it.
Ge Chen reveals the Shards of Osiris contain memories both happy and sad, including memories of Osiris, Isis and Set. These memories are unlocked by the shards over time slowly. Fan Le Lao is most likely also experiencing the same memory unlocking due to the amount of Shards he himself has this point.
History
Childhood
He had a normal life with his parents including a mother who would sing to him.[2]
However, his father, who was the Clan Leader of the Lasombra, had sealed his true powers after the Human Hunters killed him.
When he was just a cute and happy child
This allowed him to led a life as a normal human in an attempt to save him. He was left to beg on the streets. However, eventually someone found him and restored his power, freeing him once again. The price he paid for the seal being lifted was that when he had the power of Set and reigns supreme the person who aided him would return to ask him to fulfill a mission.[3]
He grew in power and sought to kill the Hunter who killed his father, leading attacks against the Hunter Organisation. In order to stop this, they decided to sacrifice a married couple. Although they were part of the ambush against Fan Le Lao's father, they were not the mastermind behind the assault. Fan Le Lao had the pair killed and this halted his assaults for a time being. However, his real goal was the repossession of his clans sacred weapon Devil Key.[4]
The Fall of Sheng Pei Ren academy
Zhao Yan protects Fan Le Lao from the students
He first appears outside of the Sheng Pei Ren Academy dressed as a street beggar. Zhao Yan defends him when the students create a fuss about the presence of a beggar. Later he is seen with Yi Sai being informed about the current situation of the school. He instructs that Zhao Yan must be taken alive.[5]
From the trees he spies on Zhao Yan, taking an obsession with her after protection.
During the final moments of the attack, he steps in to replace Yi Sai as he fights Zhao Yan as she proves to be too much for Yi Sai.[6]
The Games Begin
After capturing Zhao Yan, he begins a long series of games involving her. Including dressing her up and making her more attractive, taken back by her cuteness. After an attempt on his life, he decides to make her a Vampire, only for her to try and take her own life rather then become one. He leaves her alone to think about it for a while, warning her he is patient but there is a limit to his patience.[7]
A number of days pass, he admires Zhao Yan out in the daylight and transforms into a group of butterflies after seeing her free one from a web. He has the maid change a cup of tea and transforming into it to steal a kiss from Zhao Yan.[8]
His next trick is to let her escape by having the maid trick her into consuming Qi Yue Lu Hua.[9]
The End of the Human Hunter Organisation
Fan Le Lao is led to where Yue Jian and Lin Xuan Chi is. Yi Sai and several members of their respective clans wait patiently outside. He reveals that the medicine not only restored Zhao Fan's powers but granted him control over her.[10]
After Ge Chen interferes and teleports away with Yue Jian and the seal, Yi Sai uses The Cup of Blood to grant the group the ability to follow Ge Chen. During the fight that follows, his bids Ge Chen with his vines, but Yue Jian breaks them and the pair once again disappear.[4] Using The Cup of blood, they once again follow.[11] Ge Chen fights them once again, but this time he fights at full power. While he is distracted with Fan Le Lao, Yi Sai tries to attack only for Yue Jian to protect him, forcing a retreat from Ge Chen.
With him gone, the Sabbat ponder why Ge Chen was o powerful the second time. Unable to use The Cup of Blood a third time, Fan Le Lao concludes it is not worth following Ge Chen this time anyway, as he is too strong like this.[12]
The Power of Destruction
He attempts to control Ni Ji Lian Xue Bisai, the power of ultimate destruction. When the third failure meets him, Yi Sai suggests using Zhao Yan's blood to enhance himself and control it. Not wanting to steal the beauty and warmth for her, but facing the choice of her or the power.[3]
Zhao Yan sits next to Fan Le Lao, unaware of who he really is
He transfers to a school called Saint Ferrell High School and introduces himself. A few days later, Zhao Yan joins the school not having any memory of who she is or knowing he really is.[1] Later that night he greets her and offers to walk her home.
When she ends up in a park attacked by 3 men, he protects her. She explains the situation with her parents and he offers for her to stay at his. They arrive back at the Sabbat castle. He leds her to the highest point and tells her he is a Vampire. He tells her it was a joke and shows her to her bed.[13]
Later that night, Zhao Yan is awaken by thunder. He asks her if she is sacred of the thunder, to which she replies she is not. However, the feeling of her memory being wiped she feels right then scares her. He comforts her by telling her loneliness scares him and they fall asleep together.[14]
After waiting until she buys him chocolates he finally brings her memory back to normal and reveals what she has been doing the last few days.[15] He explains that for all her pride and nobility, he can easily write her into a romantic screenplay. He states he wants to prove to her she is not the person she believes herself to be and wishes to break her will. He lets her have a night as herself again before sending her back to the school to resume things again.
The next day, she begins to avoid him, as unknown to him she scratched a warning onto her arm.[16] Finally he approaches her to ask, but she continues to avoid him.[17] She finds a job and a place to earn money but he continues to try ad get close to her and appears at her new place of work.[17] She tries to protect herself from him by saying the cafe is closed. However, he sees around this by claiming he has been there for a while and she refused to see him. When she spills drink on him, he pushes her to the ground demanding compensation. She struggles free of him.
It begins to rain, he brings an umbrella, she walks by him.[18]
Fan Le Lao forces Zhao Yan into a kiss while trapped in the rubble of the earthquake
Tired of Zhao Yan avoiding him, Fan Le Lao enters the practice chamber where Yi Sai is forcing Xi Yan to learn magic and tells him he is tired of hearing her screams. He then tells him tells Yi Sai to gather his clan members and help him with something.[19] Later an earthquake hits the school trapping him with Zhao Yan nd injuring his arm in the process, impressing Yi Sai on how far he would go. While waiting to be rescued, Zhao Yan pulls off her sleeve to bandage up Fan Le Lao's arm, only to discover her scars she scratched onto herself at last.[20] During the time the pair are captive under the rubble, he forces himself upon her and kisses her.
Later the pair are rescued and taken to a hospital. Fan Le Lao takes the place of a doctor and checks in on her. He tranquilizes her, knocking her out.[21]
Final Round
He takes Zhao Yan back to the Sabbat HQ. He removes her scars and tells her he is sending her back in a perfect condition so this time she falls in love with him completely.[22]
At school, they pray for the students who lost their lives in the Earthquake. After class, Fan Le Lao shocks the students by saying Zhao Yan is his girlfriend.[23] Dismissing his advantages, she runs off. Fan Le Lao approaches her and ask her to be his pillar of support after the incident they lived through. A she grabs her, she pushes away 3 other girls from the school witness her pushing him away.
Later they find her in the bathroom and toss a bucket of water over her for rejecting him, accusing her of making herself feel special in the process. Fan Le Lao stands at the bathroom door and declares he really loves his girlfriend. He hands her a towel, she asks him to get out of the Ladies bathroom, rejecting his offer to carry her as well. He states he'll keep waiting for her to come to him.[24]
A kiss on a Ferris Wheel
It begins to snow outside. She goes outside to see if he will come. He takes her to an Amusement Park Ferris Wheel and makes it work despite the staff going on. They board one of the carriages and observe the view. After a brief talk on how the superstitions of a couple sitting together will break up, the pair kiss.
They head back to Fan Le Lao's home, Sabbat HQ, Fan Le Lao pretends he has a cold. He convinces her to stay and look after him so he won't have to be alone.
Once he falls asleep, he starts calling her in his sleep.[25]
The next day, he appears to be better. While exploring a bit she finds a staircase leading to a room full of paintings of her and him. While she is distracted, he hugs her from behind. he explains that these are dreams he wishes to carry out with her, holding her hand he asks if she could make these dreams come true.[26]
They spend a day together reliving some of the paintings, as the day ends he notes how happy she is and prepares to end their game.[27]
The Game Ends
As the final round of their game ends, he becomes cold and distant towards Zhao Yan. Then as she looks out from a railing, he appears behind her and tells her he will take her to a place tonight.
Later at a beautiful beach after dark. He tells her this place is painful for him, perking her curiosity. He proceeds to tell her that he is of Blood Clan, a Vampire. He mind stirs on why he is always on his own as he explains he does not want to drink blood. He then goes on to explain when he was young he was cursed and must embrace a girl by the time he is 18, mking her into a Vampire. After he turns 18, he will die and become a devil in hell. He ensures her in her confusion he had no intention of making her a Vampire.
His talk about vampires stirs memories within her, but she cannot put her mind to ease, cusing her head to hurt. She runs off, though he expected her to do so.
The next day he is absent from school and she finds a letter in her desk.
The game ends and Zhao Yan gives herself up to Fan Le Lao
Later that night, she goes to him as he prepares everything ahead of her coming.[28] She finds and hugs him, as he explains things to her, she ensures him she wants to save him. after gently resting her on a bed of rose petals, he bites her.
At some point, the cure for her memory erasing is given to her.
The next morning, he is surprised she has not become a Vampire and puts it down to Mei Yue Yin. Zhao Yan is chained up as his prisoner in a cell. The mark he gave her on her neck from biting her grows. She suddenly awakens. He tells her the game is over and he has won - she fell for him completely. He brags about how easy it was to win her love, despite how "noble" she was, that her memories of the past few days will start returning to her in the next few hours. She cries, much to his delight. he then leaves her.
Elsewhere, he tries the power of destruction again and this time masters it, thanks to Zhao yan's blood powering him.[29]
The Ice Coffin
As Fan Le Lao mastered the power of destruction, Yi Sai congratulates him. He reports to the leader that the Camarilla were able to get all 7 of their Sacred Weapons, which concerns Fan Le Lao as Ge Chen should have taken longer to do so. They focus on Yue Jian, the third sister of the Nam Gong family and plan to arrive to the Ice Coffin first to snatch away everything they know.[30]
Using Xi Yan they are able to snatch all 7 weapons without the Camarilla knowing they were tricked into giving up the weapons. With the weapons in hand they preform the true rite to take the information on how to remove Osiris' curse on the Forbidden Sphere.[31]
The Forbidden Sphere
Fan Le Lao and Yi Sai spy on the Ventrue Clan clan and note that Yue Jian has left the castle. Fearing they may come after the Sacred Weapons, they vow to tighten security. Predicting their foe's movements, they realise they may go after Zhao Yan. Fan Le Lao uses his command he still has over Zhao Yan to plant the location of the Forbidden Sphere into her head and to find him as soon as she arrives.[32]
Yue Jian, desguised as her sister Xi Yan, joins Yi Sai and Fan Le Lao as they examine the Sacred Weapons of the Camarilla. Yi Sai asks her why she is here and when she does not reply he angers at her attitude believing her to be Xi Yan. Almost letting it slip who she really is, she hides her resistance in her eyes.[33]
Later, Yue Jian is forced to watch as Zhao Yan is bitten and abused by Fan Le Lao. He makes her aware of their audience. she is made to watch as Zhao Yan resists her pain and humiliation in front of her sister.
Several days before they head out to the Forbidden Sphere, he is at Zhao Yan's cell. He hears a disturbance outside and goes to see it. When he sees nothing he casts a spell. Convinced nothing is there he leaves.[34]
They meet the Camarilla at the cemetery where the door to the Forbidden Sphere lies and a fight presumes.[34]During the fight he squares off against Ge Chen. After the plan involving Yue Jian come to fruition, Ge chen calls a truce until they enter the Forbidden Sphere, as fighting now achieves nothing, to which Fan Le Lao agrees. The Luna Eclipse occurs, the Devil Doll sets off the Sacred Weapons to summon the door and the door is revealed. Ge Chen uses the the Key to open the door.[35]
The Sabbat and Camarilla stand before the seal holding Set's power within. The rules are explained on how to get the power held within. Fan Le Lao begins the first strike and attacks Ge Chen. Ge Chen strkes back, but Fan Le Lao defends himself with a shield spell.
A loud explosion catches their attention, they turn to see Set himself has appeared to reclaim his power. Mei Lilla tries to warn Ge Chen as Set strikes him. Fan Le Lao watches as a Ge Chen attempts to teleport Set away.[36]
During the fight, Zhao Yan and Xi Yan return. Zhao Yan singles out Fan Le Lao and goes to take his life. He tries to point out right now she is helping the Camarilla who are Vampires, but she notes that her sister Xi Yan becoming a Vampire because of the Sabbat has changed her position on Vampires.[37]
As Zhao Yan stands over him, he notes she is no different from the time she stood over him back when he was pretending to be a beggar. He talks about how easily she gave herself to him before, and though she protests he notes she is hesitating to actually kill him. He then points how that the one thing she isn't questioning is how she knew where Forbidden Sphere was in the first place.
Fan Le Lao nears to bite and drain Zhao YAn of every drop of blood she has to spare
He uses the command spell to force her to give him blood to fight with. As he bites her, he that even little blood from her can greatly replenish his strength and begins to strip her dress to suck her dry, but is attacked by Ge Chen who is with Yue Jian. He commands Zhao Yan to attack.[32]
When the power is finally released, Set stands close enough to retrieve his power and is awarded 3/5 of it. He turns to Fan Le Lao, who stood close enough to receive the other 2/5. When Fan Le Lao asks if he is up for fighting, Set decides it is not worth continuing and draws his attention to Yue Jian. All sides retreat from Forbidden Sphere for now, Fan Le Lao brings Zhao Yan with him and orders Yi Sai to bring Xi Yan.[38]
The Fragments of Osiris
3 days after the battle, she is confronted by Fan Le Lao. She grabs a nearby dagger and threatens him. She attempts to cut her own throat to sacrifice herself, but he merely mocks her for it. He mocks her sister Xi Yan who is the Sabbot's prisoner once again and tells her depending on her actions her "worthless" sister will be dealt with. She realises he put the dagger there. She makes an agreement that if her two sisters are protected, fan Le Lao can do whatever he wants with her. This intrigues him.[39]
A few weeks pass, the Sabbat locate someone who knows the location of the Fragments of Osiris. Zhao Yan, who is no longer tied up but still a prisoner, is allowed to walk around the HQ freely demands to know more information. Fan Le Lao warns her about her position. He reminds her Xi Yan is still in their control and she must keep up her end of their new bargain. She warns him he must keep up his end as well. Both agree they currently need each others help, Zhao Yan to get her sister Yue Jian back and fan Le Lao to get the remaining 3/5 of Xai Tai's power. Zhao Yan is willing to do whatever it takes to get her last sister back.[38]
A few days later, Lin Xuan Chi is dragged in front of him and Zhao Yan. Zhao Yan states his punishment for his betrayal was justified. Fan Le Lao takes a dig at her at Xi Yan's expense for her own betrayal. Fan Le Lao notes that despite how big the battle of Forbidden Sphere was, the Demon Hunter's Organisation didn't play any part and he believes they have access to a better power. Lin Xuan Chi believes the real reason his parents were killed was over the dairy they had containing the Fragments of Osiris.[40]
Village of the Damned
Their first mission takes the Sabbat and Nan Gong sisters into a deserted village. The village was victim of a storm that destroyed its crops and methods of trading with the outside world. The villagers turned on each over and resorted to cannibalism. The initial appearance was of a calm and picturesque village, but as the sun sets its darker face is revealed.
Fan Le Lao grabs Zhao Yan and cuddles her under protest from her. He tells her to watch the sun as it sets. As the darkness comes in, the creatures of the night appear from inside the village.[39]
They soon finding themselves fighting the creatures. During the fighting, Zhao Yan spots a child calling her for help. She rescues the boy who claims he knows a safe place.
The Sabbat retreat, following the boy. After they escape the fighting, he explains the state of the area after the storm and how anyone who entered the area became trapped. He explains that over time the people trapped began to bleed in the face and slowly everyone including his parents turned into the undead creatures they saw earlier. Those who starved to death also became the creatures and when the army was sent in, they too fell.
They arrive where the remaining villagers are, the eyes of the people glow red. Fan Le Lao explains to Zhao Yan that they are not to be confused with Vampires whose eyes also glow red, these people simply are eating meat near the grave. Fan Le Lao hears Zhao Yan singing and remembers his own mother singing to him. He notes he wants to make her cry. She states she won't cry anymore and he notes how weak she sounds and how she lacks cruelty.[2]
Later that night he awakens to devou the group. While explaining to Zhao Yan the villages situation the boy reveals thanks to the fragment of Osiris he is able to control the people and calls himself The Ruler of the Night. It is then revealed that none of the Vampires in the Sabbot are poison and whether or not they ate his cookies is unknown, they were likely to be uneffected as they were the true rulers of the night. Ultimately the child is killed for his fragment by Fan Le Lao and the village burnt to the ground soon after.
Fan Le Lao is surprised Zhao Yan didn't stop him from killing the child. She states they were prisoners within the village unable to venture out, they were far from innocent and deserved to pay for their sins. She was surprised Fan Le Lao trusted her instincts. When she comments he was just a child, Fan Le Lao remarks how cruel she had become.[41]
The Giovanni Clan
Fan Le Lao rents out an entire hotel for the Sabbat to stay in. Yi Sai informs an Le Lao that the Camarilla have left Big Bug Island. He also tells of what he has learnt on the Mei Yue Yin, which is purposely allowed to be heard by Zhao Yan who is eavesdropping.
After Yi Sai leaves, he asks Zhao Yan if she is crying and ties to "comfort her". Fan Le Lao complements her stating she looks like she wants to destroy everything and notes this side of her is beautiful to him.[42]
Fan Le Lao purposes sends the Nam Gong sisters to a shop to buy food and essentials to lure out the Demon Hunter's Organisation Remnants. He watches from afar with a Familiar. He is joined by Yi Sai. They observe the sisters leaving the stoe and then the fight with Ada. When Zhao Yan is victorious over Ada, they decide not to chase her as she was working alone. The bat familiar is discovered and the elder sister destroys it.
Just then a package arrives.
When the sisters and Sorace arrives, they find a room filled of smoke and any Vampire who was in the room, including Fan Le Lao has changed genders.[43]
It is explained that they received the package two days ago, but it had not been opened and though they took caution they still got catch off by the gas. Fan Le Lao accuses Zhao Yan's lack of transformation due to her being "too manly" to begin with, but as Yi Sai points out, it ma only effect Vampires. Yi Sai is accused of having involvement as he left just before the gas was released, but he points out Fan Le Lao himself sent him away. Zhao Yan brings up Ada's stone that only impacted Vampires and suspects they are connected.
Fan Le Lao notes that the Demon Hunter's Organisations remnants likely poisoned Xi Yan on purpose and then used the gas to control the Vampires to get access to the Mei Yue Yin owner and lure her out.
Just then, Fan Le Lao feels a sharp pain in his chest. He compares his breast size to Zhao Yan, causing her to lash out at him. Fan Le Lao then tells Yi Sai to prepare guns; they will attack the group pretending to be local gangsters.
Fan Le Lao whose beauty as a woman can topple nations.
The Sabbat attack a church, where the hunters are hding. They capture a number of hunters, but are forced out when an explosion occurs. During the fight, the pains in his chest continue.[44]
Fan Le Lao interrogates a Hunter they took prisoner from their raid. The hunter reveals all he knows revealing the remain Hunters have formed into separate groups with different missions. Ada's group were simply charged with capturing the Nan Gong sisters Zhao Yan and Yue Jian, while Ada intended to kill Xi Yan herself. When they couldn't make progress they were told to wait in the city. A mysterious person gave them weapons to fight Vampires with. Fan Le Lao asked about a long haired man with pointy ears, but the hunter knew nothing on him.
Finished with the Hunter he tells the others they can do want they want with him, the man begs for his life, even going so far as to offer to become a Vampire. Fan Le Lao tells him to stop begging and asks for what reason he has to keep him. Zhao Yan goes to Ada to ask for the antidote to change the Vampires back to their original genders.
Later, effected members of the Sabbat venture to the Fortune Teller to get answers. The Vampires are changed back to their original genders. The old man reveals he is of the Giovanni Clan and a Vampire over 1,000 years old. He explains that it is the younger members of the clan who likely caused them to change genders as they are quite mischievous and swapped out the original package for that one. The original intended package was sent by the fortune teller and was much scarier.
The old woman speaks about their leader being obsessed with an object that had been at rest for centuries. The fortune seller states that Fan Le Lao knows so much for his young age and wonders how he knows. He passes an envelop with the details of an upcoming action held by the clan.
On the way out, Zhao Yah eavesdrops as the Teller warns Fan Le Lao he has two people inside, one like water and the other fire, they must be used wisely as they will tear him apart.[45]
The Auction
Fan Le Lao arrives at the auction with Zhao Yan and he introduces themself as husband and wife, igniting the anger of Zhao Yan. Due to their spectecular looks they attract lot of attention. Zhao Yan speaks to Fan Le Lao in a rather disrespecting manner and protest over being introduced as his wife. Fan Le Lao silences her with reminding her that she is still his prisoner.
Fan Le Lao identifies the Giovanni Leader to Zhao Yan as he comes to greet them. Moments later he rushes off on a urgent matter.[46]
Outside the pair meet up with Yi Sai and Xi Yan. They report the leader rushed off must likely due to the Giovanni Fortune Teller being mudered soon after they left. Fan Le Lao wonders if a certain someone killed her and the pair go back inside.
Zhao Yan discusses on how the leader may not realise that Fan Le Lao is the woman from the attack but he may know who she is. Fan Le Lao comments everything is under control. Fan Le Lao wrenches from pain again and Zhao Yan gives him a vial of her blood. He ignores the bottle and pushes her onto the bed and bites her while she protests. With her own blood still on his mouth he kisses her so she can taste her own blood.
Fan Le Lao compares her to a parasite who needs others to survive, and although she walks away from revenge she merely goes after someone else. He comments at least Xi Yan knows what she wants, he asks what her future plan is but receives no answer from her.[47]
Zhao Yan and Fan Le Lao dance the Tango? Oh là là
At the auction, he decides that the best way to get the Giovanni leader's attention is to stand out. He causes the music to play the Tango and he and Zhao Yan dance, taking advantage of the situation to address her as both his wife and lover which annoys her before they do so.
After their dance the Giovanni leader attempts a dance with Zhao Yan, which causes Fan Le Lao to step in. He forbid the pair to dance and later claims it will frustrate their Leader more making him come to them.
Leaving Zhao Yan alone, outside he confronts the man causing him pain, claiming Fan Le Lao is going to punish him for messing with him.[48] The two fight, with him coming out on top and telling him this is discipline, reminding him that he made an agreement years ago with him that he must fulfil and that currently to do so he has to learn to live with the two powers within himself. The man turns out to be the God Osiris.[49]
After being made unconsious by Osiris, he wakes up in the bedroom he shares with Zhao Yan. She reveals that she knows about his dream of his childhood. They talk about his parents and about the Giovanni leader. He tells her that they are up against Osiris and speculates why he is unable to absorb the shards of his own power and let him have it. They start chatting about her sisters and Fan Le Lao's plans for the future. He says that after he gets his hand on the power of Set he will find a place for himself in the world and will not try to rule the world as his appetit is not that big.
Let me help you with that little blood!
Then he asks her to sing the lullaby she sang to the child in the Village of the Damned. When she is done, he licks the blood in the corner of her mouth. Zhao Yan slaps him for this and scolds him for being a pervert. While they are arguing Yi Sai arrives, and reports the magic formation they have found verifying his suspision about the shard's whereabouts.[50]
n the morning she helps Fan Le Lao to dress as he is still hurt thanks to his fight with Osiris. His plan for the night is to have Osiris help him out. Zhao Yan mokes him as he is not able to win a fight against him yet he wants to use him. Fan Le Lao is annoyed but changes the topic and tells her that yesterday he revealed his weakest side to her. During their conversation they were equal and she was the only one who ever saw this from her. Zhao Yan doesn't understand why he treats her so different, but reminds herself that he only cares about his interest and she shouldn't mistaken his intentions.
In the auction she is horrifyed when they bring out a living being, beautiful vampire woman. Fan Le Lao tells her that she shouldn't be that surprised as both humans and vampires are greedy but they normally hide it. But when they wear masks they don't have to surpass it. Zhao Yan finds it disgusting. Fan Le Lao finds it true.[51]
After the slave vampire girl they bring out the item that the Sabbat wants - the undecaying head. When the bid starts, Zhao Yan thinks back to the night when they recieved the invitation, she had a talk with Xi Yan. Her sister expressed willingness to join her at the auction to help her. She denies her rather harshly. When she leaves the room, she is confronted by Fan Le Lao. He is on the opinion that she leaves a bad impression - all this time she made it look like that Xi Yan is important to her and cares about her and now shuts her out. He asks her if she is not afraid of that Xi Yan will hate her. Zhao Yan says that when they were in the store she realized that Xi Yan is too sensitive and she overthinks everything. Zhao Yan doesn't want for her to feel as she is using her as a pawn. And she doesn't care if Xi Yan hates her but she will not let her into a dangerous situation.
His true side
Fan Le Lao bids really high. She brings up metal bags to the podium but instead of money they contain smoke granates. Everyone panics. She has another flashback from the same night but probably it happened earlier than her talk with Xi Yan. Fan Le Lao informs her about the complete situation and how he plans to deal with it. He describes the Giovanni leader as a pervert and comes up with the idea to let Xi Yan seduce him. Zhao Yan takes the job for herself, which seriously annoys Fan Le Lao. He warns her that the Giovanni leader will probably try to have sex with her and she should let Xi Yan deal with this. Zhao Yan is angry and jells with him that he wouldn't protect Xi Yan properly if she encounters a dangerous situation, but he wouldn't let her die yet. Fan Le Lao asks her if that's the case then is she ready to kill if that is what is demanded from her.
While Zhao Yan is shooting Fan Le Lao confronts the Giovanni leader who thinks that he is in a winning position, and says he didn't bring out his pawn. Fan Le Lao asks him if he is refering to Zhao Yan and reveals that she was always his, and everything - her annoyance, their blood-drinking scene, her "reluctance" to be with Fan Le Lao was all for play, and a composed scene for him. Yi Sai makes the formation kill every Giovanni who arrives to battle with Fan Le Lao, and this completes the ritual, forming a body for the head. Fan Le Lao says that he will not deal with him personally, and looks up at Osiris.[52]
Battle after the Auction
The Giovanni leader makes the reborn Giovanni attack Fan Le Lao. He is surprised that his magic can penetrate his shield, and then that the male chooses close combat. Claiming that he has no time for this, he hurls the Giovanni at Osiris, and sends a powerful fire spell after them, forcing Osiris to step in. He informs the God that the Giovanni has no consciousness. Osiris destroys his head. While he scolds the leader of the Giovanni, Fan Le Lao is checking on Zhao Yan's alertness. After Osiris is done with the Giovanni, he considers this matter closed, but Fan Le Lao an Zhao Yan surround him, making him mock them for being bandits.[53]
Osiris makes a move to get away from them and defend himself from Fan Le Lao's attack with icewall. While Fan Le Lao is keeping his distance fearing to touch him believing that he can cause him pain that way, Zhao Yan attack Osiris head on. She forces him out from the icewall, but Osiris sees through his plans, and causes him to suffer pain from the distance. Fan Le Lao orders Zhao Yan away and attacks with full power. He can barely support himself, and Zhao Yan is asking him if he is dead. Telling him to rest she goes to check on Osiris, but she is attacked by him with iceshards. Fan Le Lao catches her. Osiris wants to take her away and makes an attack against him with his scythe, but Fan Le Lao stops it, completely enraged that Osiris harmed his possession, and daring him to do it again.
Osiris is surprised by his strength, and after Zhao Yan madly slashes his face, he decides to leave as he will have other opportunities. He warns Fan Le Lao against showing off his abilities as he will be defeated that way, and leaves behind 3 shard of the Giovanni as charity.[54]
Ravnos Clan
She wakes up to Fan Le Lao smoking beside her, which annoys her. He scolds her for impatience and warns her that next time she faces a loss she can't let her emotions effect her. He also tells her that the little slave girl saved her with her song and he is suspecting that she is from the Ravnos Clan. Since that Clan is really insular nobody knows their true HQ's location, so he wants to use her. He also informs her that soon they will enter to the desert, and they are close to "that place" and if she wants to visit, she can only do it now. She asks about whether Xi Yan come visiting or not, but he deflects this question by saying that she has something else to do. Zhao Yan reveals a happy expression, which surprises him.
Zhao Yan mockes him for smoking and he claims it is used to calm and numb himself. She thanks him for saving her but he deflects it by saying that they bith did a blood oath and he was only upkeeping his part. Both ponder about their situation: one is a Vampire, one is a human, they are forced together by the circumtances.[55]
3 days after the battle after the battle with Osiris, Zhao Yan is packing. He comments on how powerful her healing abilities are, and also adds that despite that she is healing way slower than she should, which is probably due to a side effect of Osiris' power. He kisses her neck, much to the annoyance of Zhao Yan, than bites, knowing that Zhao Yan is already fed up with him.
When she asks about Xi Yan, he snitches on her, revealing that she was doing horribile things, and she moons over, when she shouldn't since she is not human anymore. Hearing this, Zhao Yan sets on to look for her sister. Before she leaves the room, she mockingly asks Le Lao if he sees her as a pet or a pawn. Hearing this, he shatter a table nearby in his frustration.
Later Zhao Yan is ready to go to the terrority of the Ravnos Clan. Fan Le Lao is there, to see her off. As they bicker, Zhao Yan reminds him of his promise, that he can let his subordinates hurt Xi Yan while she is away. After she departs, he mockingly comments on that he made no promise regarding outsiders hurting Xi Yan.[56]
Trivia
- Not much is known about his age. Ge Chen told[4] Yue Jian that the attack against the Lasombra was 17 years ago. At that time, according to Ge Chen's narration and his own memories[50] he was a small child - from how he looked he was around 3-4 years old. So it's sure that he is older than 17, but his true age is unknown.
- His birthday is on the 9th of November.
- According to a side chapter he rapes Zhao Yan at a point of their story.[57]
- Though he often portrayed while smoking, in the manhua he first shown actually smoking in the Chapter 103. He claimed it was to calm himself.
- Fan Le Lao about himself: "My career is being The Leader. The Lasombra Clan's very own King". (A very high paying job!)[58]
